Have an AI agent call customer service for you
Phone menus, hold music and being passed between reps. Some agents can now place the call for you, ask for what you need and send you a transcript, while you approve anything that matters.
Yes, a few can. Genspark's Call for Me phones businesses or a number you enter, gets through phone menus and sends a transcript, on a paid plan. Meta Muse has a phone call beta for US businesses; in our feed it got a Costco membership address changed on the third call. Grok Bot has no built-in calling, so it needs a third-party calling service. Keep payments, cancellations and personal details behind your own yes.
Agents that can do this
Call for Me is documented on Genspark's help pages: phone menus, transcripts and scheduled calls. Needs Plus ($24.99/mo), and each call costs 500 credits.
Seen making customer service calls in our feed. Calling is a US beta, and 404 Media reported some calls are placed by human agents.
No built-in calling. It can use a third-party calling service you connect, which usually costs extra.
How to do it
Write down the facts
Account or order number, what went wrong, dates, and the outcome you want, like a refund, a new address or an earlier visit.
Set the limits
Tell the agent what it may agree to and what it must not do: no payments, no new contracts, no cancellations without asking you.
Decide what it can share
Name, account number and address are usually enough. Keep card numbers, passwords and your Social Security number out of it.
Let it call
The agent dials, gets through the menu and waits on hold. If the rep needs to speak to you, it should tell you instead of pretending to be you.
Check the transcript
Read what was actually said, not just the summary, and get a reference number or a confirmation email for anything that was changed.
Copy this prompt
Call [COMPANY] customer service at [PHONE NUMBER]. My name is [NAME] and my account or order number is [NUMBER]. The problem: [WHAT WENT WRONG, WITH DATES]. What I want: [OUTCOME]. You may share my name, account number and [OTHER DETAILS]. Don't agree to any payment, plan change, contract or cancellation, and don't give card numbers or passwords. If they need to speak to me, ask when to call back and tell me. Afterwards, send me the transcript, what they agreed to and any reference number.
Our own prompt, written from the cases on this page. We haven't run it on these agents ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Some companies will only make changes after speaking to the account holder. Be ready to join the call or call back yourself.
- Agents can mishear numbers and dates. Check the transcript before you rely on the result.
- Calling tools usually cost extra: credits per call on Genspark, or a separate calling service for Grok Bot.
- Results in our feed are what posters report. The rep may still say no.
Questions people ask
Can AI wait on hold for me?
Yes. Genspark says Call for Me can get through "press 1" phone menus, and the Costco poster in our feed says he never sat on hold while Muse made the calls. You get the outcome and a transcript afterwards.
Will the person on the phone know it's an AI?
They should. Genspark won't place calls that hide that the caller is an AI or who the call is for. If a rep asks, the agent should say so.
Is it safe to let an AI call customer service for me?
It's fairly safe if you set limits. Only share what the call needs, tell it never to pay or cancel without asking, and check the transcript. Don't give it card numbers, passwords or one-time codes.
Can ChatGPT or Claude make phone calls for me?
We haven't found phone calling on OpenAI's or Anthropic's pages for ChatGPT Work or Claude Cowork. Both can find the right number and write a script, and then you make the call.
How much does an AI phone call cost?
On Genspark, each connected call costs 500 credits, and calling needs the Plus plan or higher. Muse calling is a beta. With Grok Bot you pay the calling service you connect.

Get a membership address changed after two reps say no
A bug in the Costco app stopped the poster from updating the address on his membership, so he asked Meta Muse to sort it out by phone. He says the first rep told Muse to do it online or in a store, the second wanted to speak to the member, and the third made the change. He never sat on hold himself.

Have an agent phone businesses with a simple question
A small business marketer tested Genspark's calling feature, which phones businesses listed on Google Maps and sends back a transcript and summary. A call asking a church about its young adults group went well. A dinner booking for 10 stalled when the host asked what time, and the reservation was never finished.
