Get money back after a price drop

You bought something and the price fell soon after. An agent can check the store's policy, contact support and ask for the difference.

Short answer

We haven't tested agents on this yet. In our feed, a Meta Muse user got $270 back from Google Store support this way. Any agent that can use your email and a store's support chat could try it: Meta Muse (US and Canada only), Grok Bot, ChatGPT Work, Claude Cowork or Gemini Spark. Start with one that asks before it sends messages.

Agents that can do this

Meta MuseFrom $0 · US and Canada only

Seen doing this in our feed. Asks before sending emails. US and Canada only.

Grok BotFrom $30/mo · Not confirmed

Can use your email and browser from its own cloud computer. Needs Premium ($30/mo).

ChatGPT WorkFrom $0 · Worldwide (where ChatGPT works)

Free in the desktop app, so a cheap way to try.

How to do it

  1. Find your receipt

Have the order number, date and price ready, or let the agent find the receipt in your email.

  2. Find the new price

Copy the link to the lower price on the same store's site.

  3. Paste the prompt

Fill in the brackets and give it to the agent.

  4. Approve the message

Read the message the agent wants to send before it goes out.

  5. Check your account

Confirm the refund lands as money, not store credit, unless you agreed to credit.

Copy-paste setup

I bought [PRODUCT] from [STORE] on [DATE] for [PRICE]. It now costs [NEW PRICE] here: [LINK]. Check the store's price adjustment and return policy. Then contact their support and ask for the difference back. Show me your message before you send it, and ask me before accepting store credit instead of a refund.

Our own prompt. We have not tested it on every agent yet. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.

Watch out for

  • Many stores only adjust prices within 14 or 30 days. Some don't do it at all.
  • Don't let the agent return an item to rebuy it unless you've agreed to that.

Our test results

Not tested yet. We haven't run our own tests on this yet. When we do, results will appear here with the date, agent version, time, cost, how often we had to step in, and screenshots. How we test.

Test plan: Same purchase scenario given to each agent: find the policy, draft the request, count how many times we had to step in.
