Hotel rate dropped after booking, Muse spotted it
He had booked a hotel a few weeks earlier for a trip the next week, at a refundable rate. Muse noticed that the price for the same stay had gone down and told him, which he says is saving him $50. He doesn't say whether he rebooked or the hotel adjusted the price, but either way the trick only works because the first booking was refundable. Rates for the same room move up and down until the day you stay, so a refundable or free-cancellation booking plus an agent that checks the price now and then is an easy win. With a prepaid, non-refundable rate the same alert would be useless.

Copy this prompt
I have a refundable hotel booking at [HOTEL] for [DATES], confirmation number [NUMBER], at [PRICE] total. Check the price for the same room type and dates once a day until [LAST FREE CANCELLATION DATE]. If it drops by more than [AMOUNT], tell me the new total and the cancellation rules of the new rate. Don't cancel or rebook anything until I say so, and never cancel the old booking before the new one is confirmed.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Compare the same room, the same dates and the same cancellation terms. A cheaper rate is often non-refundable.
- Book the new rate first and cancel the old one only after you have the new confirmation, before the free cancellation deadline.

Get money back after a price drop
You bought something and the price fell soon after. An agent can check the store's policy, contact support and ask for the difference.
