Hermes took over an hour a day of website profile updates
He runs a website of profiles of well-known Indian figures, and keeping each profile current took him about an hour a day: descriptions, photos, birth dates, awards and timelines. He set up Hermes Agent with the API of Directus, the content system behind the site, so the agent now does those updates. It even checks each photo with image recognition to make sure it's a portrait of just one person. He says he spent about $5 experimenting with a paid OpenAI model and is moving to cheaper open models through OpenRouter. One thing didn't work: Hermes couldn't sign in to Google in its browser, even with the login saved in its vault. That's a common limit, since Google often blocks automated sign-ins, so an official API is usually the steadier way in. For a small site owner, the takeaway is that repeat edits through an API are a good fit for an agent, while anything behind a Google login may need a different route.
Copy this prompt
Every day, check the profiles in my [CMS] for missing or out-of-date fields: description, photo, birth date, awards and timeline. Use only the sources I list here: [SOURCES]. Draft the updates and show me a list of changes before saving. For photos, only use ones that show the one person the profile is about. Never delete a profile.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Model costs add up while you experiment. Set a spending limit with your model provider first.
- Google often blocks automated browser sign-ins. Use an official API where there is one.
- Facts like birth dates and awards need a source. Have the agent cite one for each change.
