Search showed fake Hermes apps; the agent found the real one

He asked his Hermes Agent to find the official mobile beta of Hermes. Search results were full of unofficial apps using the Hermes name. The agent skipped them and found the real sign-up on Nous Research's own site. The Android test group was already full, while the iPhone one was still open. With popular open-source agents, lookalike apps are common, and some ask for your API keys or passwords. Getting the link from the maker's own site is the safe habit.

The lesson: Get downloads for open-source agents from the maker's own site. Lookalike apps can ask for your keys.

Copy this prompt

Find the official app or download for [TOOL]. Only use links from the maker's own website or their verified accounts, and ignore apps from other publishers that use the same name. Tell me where you found the link and who publishes it.

Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.

Watch out for

  • Never paste your API keys or passwords into an app you can't trace back to the official maker.
