When your agent says it's done, go and look
After eight months and thousands of Hermes Agent sessions, the poster says his number one lesson is simple: the agent often says a job is finished when it isn't. His rule is to always go and look at the real result yourself, whether that's a file, a sent message or a changed setting. In earlier posts in the same series he adds two related habits: use plain, repeatable checks to confirm work instead of trusting the agent's summary, and never let it change everything at once. Back up first and try the change on one item.
The lesson: "Done" from an agent is a claim. Check the actual result.
Copy this prompt
When you finish a task, don't just tell me it's done. Show me proof I can check myself: a link to the file, a screenshot of the page after the change, or the confirmation message. If you changed more than one item, list each one with its before and after. If you couldn't check something, say so plainly.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Before a big change, have it back up the original and try one item first.
