30 days of Grok Bot: slow, and sometimes stuck

The poster used Grok Bot every day for 30 days and wrote up what he found. He liked that it has its own computer and browser, keeps working overnight when his own computer is off, and is easy for beginners. His complaints: it was slow, it wasn't good at planning big engineering work, and it would often get stuck. A few times, when he checked in, it had already finished the work and was just sitting on it. He also didn't like not knowing which model it was using, and found the $30 starting price hard to justify next to free Meta Muse. He says he won't renew.

The lesson: If a long task goes quiet, ask for the result. It may already be done.

Copy this prompt

When you start a task that will take more than a few minutes, tell me roughly how long you expect it to take. Send me a short update every [NUMBER] minutes, and message me the moment you finish, with the result attached. If you get stuck, tell me what's blocking you instead of waiting.

Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.

Watch out for

  • Try one month before paying for a year. Use it for the jobs you'd actually hand off, not demos.
