Turn saved articles into short e-reader books
The poster saves X threads, Reddit posts and articles to Readwise Reader, but reading them on a screen at night gave him headaches. He bought a Boox e-ink reader, and connected his Hermes Agent on a Mac mini to his saved reading. He gives it a topic, and it uses his saved items plus other sources, such as the original research paper, to make an illustrated book of about 20 minutes, with diagrams and links to the sources. The agent sends the file straight to the e-reader. He uses it to catch up on saved items and to learn a topic properly.
Copy this prompt
Take my saved items about [TOPIC] from [READ-LATER APP OR FOLDER] and write a short book I can read in about 20 minutes. Explain the topic from the basics, use simple diagrams where they help, and link every claim to the saved item or original source it came from. Save it as an .epub and send it to [E-READER EMAIL OR FOLDER].
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Spot-check a few facts against the linked sources. A smooth summary can still get details wrong.
- Hermes Agent is free, but the AI model you connect costs money unless you run one on your own hardware.
