Dots didn't pick a task back up until she asked
She tried Dots, the always-on agent in ChatGPT Pro, and found it less proactive than she hoped. It didn't use the background she had fed it, and when a request was blocked by a missing app connection, it stayed blocked after she added the connection until she asked again. She says Meta Muse is better at following up on its own. If you use Dots, a simple fix is to tell it what to do when it gets unblocked.
The lesson: Tell the agent what to do once it's unblocked, so it doesn't wait for you to ask twice.
Copy this prompt
If a task is blocked because you need access to an app or a file, tell me exactly what you need. When I give it to you, continue the task right away without waiting for me to ask, and tell me when it's done.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Don't assume it will resume on its own. Check back after you fix what blocked it.
