Find a local pro and book them
You need a plumber, a tailor or the repair person you used last year. An agent can search, compare and reach out for you.
We haven't tested agents on this yet. In our feed, Meta Muse found a semi-retired embroiderer and arranged a small job, and found an HVAC technician's contact in someone's Gmail. Genspark can phone businesses listed on Google Maps with simple questions. Grok Bot, ChatGPT Work and Gemini Spark can also search and email for you.
Agents that can do this
Seen doing this twice in our feed. US and Canada only.
Can make simple phone calls to businesses on Google Maps.
Works with Gmail and Google Maps. Not in the EEA or UK.
How to do it
Describe the job
Say what you need, where, when and roughly your budget.
Ask for a shortlist
Get 3 options with reviews and prices before anyone is contacted.
Approve the outreach
Read the email or call script first.
Let it follow up
Ask the agent to track replies and put the booking in your calendar.
Copy-paste setup
Find a [SERVICE] within [DISTANCE] of [AREA] who can do [JOB] by [DATE]. Give me a shortlist of 3 with reviews and rough prices. Then email my top pick with these details: [DETAILS]. Ask me before you agree to a price, share my address or send any files.
Our own prompt. We have not tested it on every agent yet. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Don't let the agent share your home address until you've picked someone.
- Reviews can be fake. Ask for the source of each review score.
Our test results
Not tested yet. We haven't run our own tests on this yet. When we do, results will appear here with the date, agent version, time, cost, how often we had to step in, and screenshots. How we test.
Test plan: Same request in the same city for each agent: quality of shortlist, accuracy of contact details, messages sent without asking.
Seen in the feed
Find the repair person you used last time, buried in your email
The poster's air conditioning broke and he couldn't find the contact for the technician who had serviced it before. Muse searched his Gmail, found the company, saved the contact to his phone and texted them. He had an appointment for noon the same day.
Find a local maker for a small job and set it all up
The poster asked Muse to find a nearby, reliable embroiderer willing to take a small batch. Muse found one, emailed him, agreed on the job and sent the files. When the poster dropped the items off, the embroiderer said he was basically retired and asked how they had found him.
