Flight changes sorted through Amex Travel chat
The day before a group trip, he had Grok Bot handle the Amex Travel web chat. He says it confirmed TSA PreCheck was on the booking, cancelled the flight for one person in the group, and confirmed whether the cancelled fare would come back as points or as a travel credit. It then put calendar reminders through the year so the credit gets used before it expires in one year. Travel credits are easy to forget, so the reminder part may be the most useful bit. He doesn't say how long the chat took or what the credit was worth.
Copy this prompt
Use the [TRAVEL SITE] chat for booking [CONFIRMATION NUMBER]. 1) Check that my Known Traveler Number is on every ticket. 2) Ask what happens if I cancel [PERSON]'s flight: refund, points back, or travel credit, and any fee. Tell me the answer before you cancel anything. 3) If I say yes, cancel it and get the confirmation. 4) Add calendar reminders at 3 months, 1 month and 1 week before any credit expires.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Cancelling one traveler can change fares or seats for the rest of the booking. Ask before it cancels.
- Credits often have their own expiry and name rules. Write down whose name the credit is in.
- Check the airline app afterwards to confirm the change went through.
