Lesson

Audit your agent's routines before they eat your usage

He asked Grok Bot for a read-only check of all his routines: find duplicates, and routines that run more often than they need to, then recommend keep, merge or cut for each one, without changing anything until he approves. It's a good habit with any agent that runs scheduled jobs. A routine that runs every hour when once a day would do uses up your weekly allowance, and two routines doing the same check do it twice.

The lesson: Scheduled routines quietly use your allowance. Review them now and then, and cut duplicates.

Copy this prompt

List every scheduled routine you run for me, with how often it runs and what it does. Point out any that overlap or check the same thing, and any that run more often than the job needs. For each one, recommend keep, merge or cut, with one line on why. This is read-only: don't change, pause or delete anything until I say which ones.

Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.

Watch out for

  • Ask for read-only first, so nothing is deleted by mistake.
  • Check how often each routine really needs to run. Daily is often enough.
