Grok Bot ran his rental hunt every morning until only viewings were left
He gave Grok Bot his rental search in Auckland, New Zealand. Every morning it checked three listing sites and put each new place on a map of the suburbs he cared about, along with police crime figures and school zones. Some listings also came in by email to an address the bot uses. By his count it found 212 places and he deleted 203 of them, so the bot did the sorting and left him with only the viewings. Once he found a place he retired the bot. Daily checks across several sites are where an agent saves the most time on a rental hunt, because good places go fast. You still need to see the place, check the landlord is real and read the lease yourself.
Copy this prompt
I'm looking to rent in [CITY]. Budget: up to [RENT] a month. Must have: [BEDROOMS], [PETS / PARKING / LAUNDRY]. Areas: [NEIGHBORHOODS]. Every morning at [TIME], check [LISTING SITE 1], [LISTING SITE 2] and [LISTING SITE 3] for new listings that match. For each one, give me the rent, address, link, commute time to [WORK ADDRESS] and the school zone, and add it to one running list with a map. Skip anything I've already rejected. Don't contact landlords or apply without asking me first.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Never pay a deposit or application fee for a place you haven't seen or checked. Rental listing scams copy real listings.
- Crime and school data can be out of date. Check the official source for the area you pick.
- Keep the agent to finding and sorting. Sending your ID or pay slips to a landlord should be your decision.

Can an AI agent help you find an apartment?
AI agents can check listing sites every day, sort places by your must-haves and set up move-in jobs. Here's what real renters report, how the Zillow apps in ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini work, and the parts you should still do yourself.
