Real use case

Track staff shifts at a small store over Telegram

The poster runs a Żabka convenience store in Poland and built a shift tracker in n8n that has been running for about three months for six employees. Staff start and end their shifts and check their schedule through a Telegram bot, and everything is saved to Google Sheets. If someone enters something wrong, the workflow stops and messages both the employee and the owner. He still makes the schedules by hand and hasn't measured exactly how much time it saves.

Copy this prompt

Set up a Telegram bot for my staff. When someone sends "start" or "end", save their name and the time in my Google Sheet. When they send "schedule", reply with their shifts for the week from the sheet. If an entry doesn't make sense, like an end with no start, don't save it, and message both the employee and me.

Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.

Watch out for

  • Check your local labor rules. Shift records may count as official time records.
  • The poster built and runs this himself. Expect some setup work before it's reliable.
