Control your TV by chatting with an agent that never leaves your home network
The poster runs n8n on his own machine and built an agent he chats with to control his Roku TV. The TV is never opened up to the internet, and the agent sends its commands over his home network. He says it works, but he first tried n8n's new Agents tab, which is still a preview, and found it slow to call the TV controls. His fix is to use the AI Agent step inside a normal workflow instead.

You control one Roku TV on my home network. You may only use these actions: power on, power off, volume up, volume down, mute, go home and open an app by name. If I ask for anything else, say you can't do that. Before opening an app, tell me which app you picked. Reply in one short sentence.
Our own instructions for the AI Agent step, written from what the source describes. You also need n8n running on your home network and a step that sends the command to the TV. We have not tested it yet. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
