Make sends ClickUp order status to Shopify for a support bot
Yana, posting in the Make Community, runs a shop where custom orders are tracked in ClickUp. Customers kept asking where their order was. She built a Make scenario that watches ClickUp for updates, turns the internal status into a plain message, and writes it into a field on the Shopify order. A chat bot on the store (ZipChat) reads that field, so it can tell customers in simple words where their order stands. Along the way she hit a few traps: an empty dropdown in ClickUp was read as its first option, date-only fields shifted by a day because of time zones, and several quick edits fired several runs. Her fixes were a safe generic message when the status is unknown, using UTC for dates, and a short wait plus a saved token so only the latest update gets written.

I track customer orders in [CLICKUP OR TOOL] and sell on [SHOPIFY]. Help me plan a Make scenario that, when an order's status changes, turns my internal status into one short, friendly line a customer would understand, and saves it on the matching Shopify order so my store's chat bot can answer "where is my order?". Use a safe general message when the status is empty or unknown, and wait a couple of minutes so several quick edits only send the latest one. Explain each module and what it costs in Make credits.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Check what happens when a dropdown is empty. Some tools hand back the first option instead of nothing.
- Date-only fields can show up a day early or late because of time zones. Test with a real order before customers see it.
- A commenter suggests checking the saved token again right before the Shopify update, so an older run can't overwrite a newer status.
