Ask your agent what it remembers about you
An accountant in Florida ran the same prompt in ChatGPT, Claude and Hermes Agent, asking each to write out everything it knows about him: saved memories and anything picked up from past chats, sorted into instructions, identity, work, projects, goals and preferences, with dates and a mark on anything it inferred. He says he found a lot stored that was either wrong or not worth keeping. Agents act on what they remember, so a wrong memory can quietly shape bookings, emails and advice. Doing this audit every few months is cheap.
The lesson: Your agent may remember things about you that are wrong. Ask it to list its memory and delete what is off.
Copy this prompt
List everything you know about me, including saved memories and things you picked up from our past conversations. Group it under: rules I gave you, personal details, work, projects, goals and preferences. One item per line, with a date if you have one. Mark anything you guessed rather than heard from me as (guess). Then tell me whether that is everything.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Delete wrong or sensitive memories in the app's memory settings, not just by saying so in chat.
- Do this before you give an agent access to email or payments.
