A bot spotted a flight he'd forgotten and got the refund started
His Grok Bot, set up to look for work it can take off his plate, was reading through his email and found a flight booking he hadn't cancelled and wasn't going to take. It told him the fare was fully refundable and asked if he wanted it cancelled. After he said yes, it submitted the refund request. This is a good example of an agent watching for money you'd otherwise lose, and of the right order of steps: it found the problem, explained the fare rules and waited for his OK before touching the booking. Fare rules matter here. A refundable fare can come back as money, while many cheaper fares only give a credit, and basic economy often gives nothing. If the ticket was bought through a booking site, the refund goes through that site rather than the airline, so the agent needs to know where you booked.
Copy this prompt
Look through my email for flight bookings in the next [NUMBER] months. For each one, tell me the date, route, who I booked with and the fare rules for cancelling: full refund, travel credit or nothing. Flag any trip I might not be taking based on my calendar. Don't cancel anything until I confirm which booking, and tell me whether the money comes back to my card or as a credit.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- A refundable fare and a travel credit are not the same. Ask which one you'll get before you confirm.
- If you booked through a travel site, the refund goes through that site, not the airline.
