Shop around before your home insurance renews, then ask your insurer to match
The poster's agent reminded him that his home and contents insurance was about to renew at a higher price. He asked Grok Bot to find alternatives, and it came back with a better quote. He then connected a voice tool so the agent could call his current insurer, and says that once they shared the lower quotes, the insurer cut his renewal price. He says it took about 10 minutes in total.
Poster's claim, not verified: He says his annual renewal dropped by $2,500. We have not verified this.
Copy this prompt
My home insurance with [INSURER] renews on [DATE] at [NEW PRICE] a year, up from [OLD PRICE]. Here is my current policy: [ATTACH]. Find at least 3 quotes with the same or better cover, and list the price, deductible and any differences in cover side by side. Then write a short script I can use, or that you can use if I approve a call, to ask my insurer to match the best quote. Don't switch or cancel anything without my OK.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Compare the cover, not just the price. A cheaper quote can come with a higher deductible or fewer things covered.
- Get the new renewal price confirmed in writing before the old policy renews, and keep the other quotes in case you need to switch.
