Do you need an agent?

No. This job works with a single prompt in any free AI chat app (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok). An agent only helps if you want it done automatically every day, straight from your accounts. We haven't tested agents on this job yet.

What you need

  • Any AI chat app. The free plan is enough.
  • The full text of the job posting.
  • Your current resume as text. Copy it out of Word, Google Docs, or a PDF.

How to use it

  1. Copy the prompt

Click Copy prompt and paste it into a new chat.

  2. Paste the job posting

Paste the whole posting under JOB POSTING, including the requirements list.

  3. Paste your resume

Paste your resume under MY RESUME. You can leave out your phone number and address.

  4. Edit, don't copy blindly

Use the rewritten bullets in your resume, fill in every [add number] with a real figure, and delete anything that isn't true.

Copy-paste setup

You are an experienced recruiter. I'm applying for the job below. Compare my resume to the job posting and help me tailor it.

Give me:
1. MATCH: a score out of 10 and 2 sentences on why.
2. MISSING KEYWORDS: the 5 most important skills or terms from the posting that are missing or hard to find in my resume. For each, say whether my resume shows I have it (and where) or not.
3. REWRITTEN BULLETS: rewrite my 4 most relevant bullet points so they match the posting's language. Use only facts that are in my resume. Where a number would help but I didn't give one, write [add number] instead of guessing.
4. SUMMARY: a 2-sentence profile summary for the top of my resume, aimed at this job.
5. GAPS: 2 honest gaps a recruiter might ask about, and one sentence I could say about each in an interview.

Never invent experience, tools, or results I don't have.

1. MATCH: 7/10

You have 6+ years of customer-facing work, a strong record with complaints, and you already train people on new systems and track numbers in Excel. The main gaps are no software company experience and no hands-on time with a CRM or help desk tool like HubSpot or Zendesk.

2. MISSING KEYWORDS

  • Onboarding: You have it, under another name. "Trained new hires on the point-of-sale system" shows you teach people new tools. Call it onboarding.
  • Customer retention: Partly shown. Growing loyalty members from 1,200 to 2,900 and holding a 4.7-star rating show you keep customers coming back. Use the word retention.
  • CRM or help desk (HubSpot, Zendesk): Not shown. You list Excel, Square POS, and Google Workspace. Don't claim HubSpot or Zendesk.
  • Written communication: Hard to find. Nothing on your resume shows writing. Your weekly results to the regional manager are the closest example.
  • Sharing customer feedback across teams: Partly shown. "Resolved order issues with the e-commerce team" shows you work with another team to fix customer problems.

3. REWRITTEN BULLETS

  • Handled customer complaints and returns from start to finish, keeping the store's review rating at 4.7 stars.
  • Grew loyalty program membership from 1,200 to 2,900 in one year, more than doubling the base of repeat customers.
  • Onboarded and trained [add number] new team members on the point-of-sale system and store procedures.
  • Tracked weekly sales against targets in Excel and reported results to the regional manager every week.

4. SUMMARY

Customer-focused retail manager with 6+ years of helping customers in person, by phone, and with online orders, backed by a 4.7-star review rating. Experienced in training people on new systems, tracking results in Excel, and growing repeat customers; fluent in Spanish.

5. GAPS

  • No software company experience. Say: "I've helped customers use products for six years and trained new hires on our point-of-sale system, so explaining software is already part of my job."
  • No HubSpot or Zendesk. Say: "I haven't used HubSpot or Zendesk yet, but I track our sales against targets in Excel every week and I learn new tools quickly." Tip: HubSpot Academy has free courses you could take before the interview.

Our verdict

  • It didn't invent anything. Every rewritten bullet uses facts from the resume, and it put [add number] where the resume had no figure.
  • The match score is fair: it gave credit for real customer work and was honest that HubSpot and Zendesk are missing.
  • The interview lines are short enough to say out loud. You still need to make them sound like you.

Which app to use

Any of the four free plans handles one resume and one posting. We haven't compared the four apps side by side on this guide yet.

Watch out for

  • Delete anything the AI adds that isn't true. Recruiters check, and it can come up in the interview.
  • Fill in every [add number] with a real figure or remove it.
  • Leave your phone number, address, and date of birth out of the chat. The AI doesn't need them.
