Find wrong codes on medical bills and get money back
The poster had his Grok Bot go through all his insurance statements (EOBs) and medical bills since 2025. He says it found several incorrect codes he would never have caught, such as denials for care that should have counted as in-network. He then had it log in to his insurance and MyChart accounts and message their billing departments. He says he has been reimbursed about $1,000 so far and is still working on the rest.
Poster's claim, not verified: About $1,000 reimbursed so far, as reported by the poster.
Copy this prompt
I've attached my explanations of benefits and medical bills since [DATE]. Make one table with every charge: date, provider, code, amount billed, what insurance paid and what I was asked to pay. Flag charges that were denied, marked out-of-network when the provider is in my network, billed twice or billed to me even though insurance paid. For each flag, explain why in one line and add up what I may be owed. Then draft a short message to each billing department. Don't send anything until I approve.
Our own prompt, written from what the source describes. We haven't run it ourselves. Text in [BRACKETS] is what you replace.
Watch out for
- Check the math on every flagged line. Agents can get simple sums wrong.
- HIPAA doesn't protect what you upload to an AI app. Share only the bills and statements it needs.
- Letting an agent log in to your insurance and patient portal gives it access to your medical history. Sign in yourself if you can.

Check and dispute a medical bill with an AI agent
Medical bills and insurance statements are long and full of codes. An agent can line them up, flag charges that look wrong and draft the dispute or appeal, while you check the math and approve what gets sent.
